Coming to Orange County Stage
Huntington Beach – March 29, 2011 – If Earth is the marriage of Heaven and Hell, what would their divorce look like? Alethia Christian Theater is excited to announce the regional debut of C.S. Lewis' "The Great Divorce" May 5, 6 & 8th at the Huntington Beach Central Library Theater.
In one of his personal favorites, C.S. Lewis’ fantastical work springs to life in this unique production. Based upon Lewis’ formidable fable of faith and allegory, a writer boards a bus with a cast of eccentric, humorous and even miserable characters who bear a remarkable resemblance to us. You will join them as they leave Hell and embark on a journey toward Heaven that is theatrical, imaginative and thought provoking.
"This is such an incredible opportunity to take a piece of classic literature and breathe new life into it by experiencing it in an entirely new context,” Kohl said. “Very few theaters have taken on this challenge, but translating C.S. Lewis' stunning vision of heaven and hell into live moments on stage is one we are all ready for. The costumes, the set, the music, and especially the young artists on stage are all working towards capturing the essence of the story in a dynamic way, and hopefully, challenging some of our preconceptions not only about life, but also about what might come after."

Alethia Christian Theater was established January 2009 by six families interested in giving students in the Southern California area a place to develop and grow their dramatic skills and learn the craft of acting with Christian values. The theater operates with the single vision to bring high quality theatrical productions to young people in Southern California and perform them for larger audiences.
